To the knee and beyond

Incase you missed the hype a few weeks ago, Australian online powerhouse The Iconic collaborated with designer By Johnny for MBFWA. The collaberation resulted in By Johnny creating an exclusive online collection ready to be ordered from the catwalk to your closet. Yep, thats what you call fast  designer fashion, hello heaven!

I am always buying new looks from The Iconic and I managed to get my hands on my favourite item from By Johnny's exclusive range, the Angle Stripe to the Knee Dress.

I 5'10 which has resulted in me developing a love hate relationship with the length of most dresses I try on. My above average height means if the make of a dress is a little on the short side then it's as good as a T-shirt to me. What I really adore about By Johnny as a designer is his ability to create knock out knee length dresses. I feel so many of my peers often think Knee length is boring and can't be sexy. By Johnny's designs are proof that extra length can be sexier than extra leg. I've worn his 'Angle stripe' dress twice now and I am already online looking for my next By Johnny number, his use of colour and print placement is amazing...The man is onto something and I like it!

Sydney and Melbourne

SYDNEY

MELBOURNE

In Sydney I wore- Camilla and marc overals, Bec and Bridge cami, Le Specs sunglasses, Jeremy Scott for Adidas sneakers, Le America bomber jacket

In Melbourne I wore- Style stalker shorts and T-shirt, Watson and Watson Bomber jacket, Jeffery Campbell boots, Sass and bide sunglasses, agent 99 beanie.

Last week my fellow Melbourne blogger Jasmine from Friend and Fashion and I caught up while getting the chance to work on a mini project. Our work/play date saw us exploring each other cities and seeing what made them unique and special in their own right. On Monday Jasmine flew down to Sydney and I took her on a jam packed day trip to all my favourite places. We then turned the tables and I did the same on friday, flying to Melbourne for the day with Jasmine as my tour guide.

It was beyond fun to catch up with a fellow Australian blogger for some work and play. We talked fashion, business, travel and overanalyised what instagram filter to use ;). The trips got me thinking, it's so funny how Melbourne and Sydney are so close geographically close yet complete opposites when it comes to the fashion and lifestyle. I defiantly dress differently whenever I am in Melbourne. Melbourne see me experiment with more layers and less colour which is great because I rarely wear black at home or get cold enough to rock a big bomber jacket or coat. In Sydney I am all about bright bold colours, stand out prints, sparkle, loud shoes and lots of skin. I find it fascinating how a change in city, climate and wardrobe choices transforms your energy and vibe.

The mini trip has made me super excited to head down to Melboune again soon for another weekend and maybe a few more nights out on the town. Hopfully my GF Demi and I will get back onto our Djing stuff so we can have a mini work/play weekend in town and do a few gigs. I really want to visit Hosier lane lane in Melbourne again, it's such an amazing place, I wish Sydney had something like it! The walls of the Hosier lane are filled with amazing street art and graffiti created by local and international artists. I am told the art is also constantly changing. As you can see I went photo crazy when Jasmine took me there on Friday. I even got photobombed by one of the artists after snapping away at him creating his work. It's defiantly one of those rare places that send my mind into an amazing creative and free state. Well worth a visit if you are in town.

The ironic outfit

Wearing: Dress- Shilla, Bag- Sass and Bide, Shoes- Nine West, Sunglasses- Le specs

When I first started in the 'fashion industry' I was a model. I got into the buisness after having been scouted at a local school fair. I working as a model with Australian and New Zealand agencies until I was around 19-20 which was when I quit mainly because it was distracting me from what my long goals were.

When I was little I always said I wanted to be a new reader- Quote- 'Dad I want to be like Sandra Sully.' I loved everything about Sandra Sully, (who is an Australian News presenter) the way she spoke, her articulation, her on screen presence, to me she was intelligent, talented and oh so captivating! I have always been a keen public speaker, from a young age I wrote poetry and during my schooling years entered speech estedfords on my weekends. I acted all through high school and anything that involved an element of performance or being creative was 'my thing'. When I decided to stop modelling I knew I really wanted to focus on presenting and radio work, especially radio because I loved the idea that no one could see me. Being on the radio gives me this rush because I had to be funny and entertaining and just rely on my voice and personality, which is something I value over looks any day.

It's funny because when I look now at it my blog, instrgram and facebook pages I am basically still modelling. I guess what I am trying to say is I find it ironic how life goes full circle. My outfit above is of a dress from Australian label Shilla (Their stuff is super cute) and below is the campaign I featured in back in my modelling days for their 2009/2010 campaign. Making this post made me think, I actually never stopped modelling... I've just changed the form and approach in which I model.  It's so funny looking at old photo's. I was such a confused little cookie back in 2009, I guess in some ways I still am haha. I am not one focus on the past to much, it can be unhealthy but sometimes it's nice to look back. Looking back might just make you feel more conformable with you're present- Happy fox :)
